As the Chief Technology Officer, Ryan leads the vision for all aspects of technology at Open Lending. He is responsible for the company’s software development, quality assurance, information security, third party technology relationships, outsourcing, and overall technology strategy and implementation. He is instrumental in maintaining relationships with all of the company’s technology partners and vendors; including outside actuaries, insurance partners, loan origination and core systems. Ryan manages a team of engineers who create industry leading web technology while providing internal and external company direction. He also serves as an adviser to the company’s Board of Managers.
Ryan is the technical architect behind transitioning from colocation dedicated servers to a private virtualized cloud environment with cloud-based technologies. He also architected moving from a single datacenter to an Active-Active, multi-geolocated datacenter solution. He has extensive experience creating custom integration into core financial systems and loan origination systems that enhance functionality.
Ryan also serves as the product owner of the Lenders Protection product and is responsible for product innovation, conception and development, production, project management and product management. Working with the Board of Managers and Executive team, Ryan drives the product strategy, vision and roadmap. He also works with the COO and Data Scientist team regarding data analytics and risk mitigation.
Ryan was formerly Senior Software Engineer for CUNA Mutual Group where he established and grew a web-based lending platform LoanLiner.com, now used by more than 500 credit unions nationwide. Ryan also spearheaded the creation of several integral systems including billing, claims, refunds, core integrations, and customer reporting for Lenders Protection.
Through Ryan’s leadership, the company was awarded the Austin Outstanding Software Services award in 2014 and the Technology Advanced Algorithmic Decisioning award in 2018.
Ryan earned a Business and Computer Science degree from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. His philanthropy interests include founding the Ryan J. Collins Annual Technology Scholarship at Edgewood College and sponsoring high school students. Ryan and his wife Rachel reside in Austin, Texas.
